Man Uses Pepper Spray on Dogs
A man in Park City, Utah has been pepper spraying off-leash dogs at the city’s busiest public park.
The man has used pepper spray on over 10 dogs in recent weeks, claiming that each of these dogs has attacked him or his girlfriend while they tried to walk peacefully on the many park trails. Owners of the victims claim these accusations are preposterous and untruthful. Because there have been no witnesses come forward, other than the man’s girlfriend, charging the man with animal cruelty seems hopeless. Residents of Park City believe that the man is fed up with dogs running loose, as it is not an off-leash park. Dog owners seem to be ignoring this rule, with little or no retribution. Angry dog owners have placed wanted posters and warnings with the man’s photograph all over the park, leaving him infuriated over the blatant disregard for his privacy. Since the pepper spraying began, there has been a drastic decrease in the number of dogs seen off-leash in the park.
A judge claims the man has a right to pepper spray dogs if he feels legitimately threatened. However, the man’s definition of imminent danger is finally being questioned by authorities.
