Electric Dog Collars Banned in Wales
The Welsh Assembly Government has decided to ban the use of electric shock dog collars for training purposes.
The RSPCA could not be more pleased with the decision, and the organization hopes the government will go one step further and ban the sale of such collars as well. There are several reasons for the ban of these collars, the most obvious being that they are a cruel and unnecessary training method. This method has also lead to aggressive and hostile behaviour in dogs. Animal rights groups claim that training by means of fear and pain can only cause animals to respond in such ways. What else is to be expected? It is believed that the whipping and frustration that exotic animals experience in circuses, is often what leads to the animal’s lashing out at trainers and crowds.
The RSPCA would like to encourage consumers to train their dogs with more compassionate methods than the use of an electric shock collar, and to encourage other countries to follow in Wales’ footsteps.
