Attempted Dog Theft
Two men kidnapped a police captain’s dog in Chicago last week inciting a car chase and arrest.
A neighbour saw two young men form a dog leash out of their belts last Wednesday afternoon and lure Kasey, a 50 pound mixed breed, from police Capt. Thomas McMahon’s yard. The dog belongs to McMahon’s 14-year-old daughter, Katie, who pursued the thieves when alerted to the dognapping. The neighbour picked Katie and continued the chase in a minivan. The police captain soon joined the pursuit and chased the men until they dropped the dog leash and the dog was able to jump into the minivan with Katie.
McMahon eventually caught up with the criminals at a restaurant where one was arrested while pretending to order food and the other hiding behind garbage bins.
